WORK AND HOLIDAY AT NORDENSKIÖLD

2 December 2015

This summer we had a team of volunteers helping to renovate the lodge. It was a true work and holiday, with combination of hard labor and relaxed leisure time around the lodge.

To renovate and upgrade a lodge in such isolation is not an easy task. All items must be delivered in boats over the freezing fjords. Everything has to be packed very carefully, or you might end up with soaked pillows or broken glass.

Once at the cabin, there is a heavy lifting before all the construction material is carried through the moraine to the cabin. It did get some sweat running, but it was good exercise for the day.

After unpacking and planning, it is time for the work. It has to be mostly manual work, since there is not too many power tools around. After a day or hammering and sawing you can feel you have done something!

But all work and no play would make Jack a dull boy. So there needs to be some refreshing moments in between the hard working days.
